Guidelines for PROJECT

 

Following are the guidelines for the Project or Dissertation project, (wherever applicable) in the programmes of IT & Management, Allied Health Sciences, Fashion Technology etc.

 

1.      Objective:

The Project in an essential requirement and integral part of the curriculum for successful completion of the programme. The project aims at developing insight and capabilities in the students for in depth study, research, interpretation, and analysis on a particular chosen/allotted topic.

 

Selection of Project Topic:

·                                              Project topic has to be selected with respect to the programme of study and area elected by the student. 

·                                              Title of the project should clearly specify the objective and scope of the study. It should be specific and neither too vague nor centralistic.

·                                              Project selection has to be made in consultation with the senior faculty members of the DESC, who will act as a Project guide for the student.

Scope of work

The student is expected to carry out following activities in the project

a.                                Prepare a synopsis of the project and get it approved by the project guide at DESC.

b.                                Undertake a detailed literature survey on the subject matter.

c.                                Make relevant data collection/observation.

d.                                Consult experts of the field.

e.                                Visit related organizations/institutions/industries.

f.                                  Compile data in proper format.

g.                                Make proper conclusion/recommendations.

h.                                Prepare A Project Report.

i.                                  Obtain approval of Project Report by project guide.

j.                                   Submit two copies of Project Report at DESC, which shall forward one copy to the University.


4. Examination and evaluation

    Project or Dissertation (wherever applicable) is to be treated as a course/paper of study of the semester. The project also includes both Internal Evaluation (30% of total Marks) and University Examination (70% of the total marks).

(a)                                                                                   Internal Evaluation of the Project

  1. The senior faculty of the DESC taking the subjects/papers related with the project will act as the project guide.
  2. The Project guide will assess the performance and involvement of the student on the project and he/she will give IA (Internal Assessment) Marks as given in other subjects of study. Internal Assessment Marks on the project will be given by the Project Guide

Following percentages indicate the given percent of total internal assessment of project performance i.e. 30% of Total marks of the project.

  1. The project guide will give the Internal assessment marks on the preprinted format supplied by the University. The IA marks given on any other paper shall not be accepted for inclusion in the semester examination.  The IA marks format shall be duly signed by the project guide and verified the Hony. Coordinator–DESC. 

 

 

(b)                                                                                  University Examination of Project

DESC shall forward names and bio-data of 5 local experts belonging to the relevant field of study to the university for consideration as examiner for the project, the University will select one examiner out of the list provided. The Examiner shall be authorized to conduct viva-voce and evaluate the project reports submitted in consultation with the project guide.

C.  DESC shall forward the marks obtained by the student on the basis of above mentioned criteria. Obtained Marks are to be sent on the format provided by the University and duly signed by the Examiner and Project Guide and properly verified by the Hony. Coordinator- DESC.
